On the 'Rationalities' of European Private Law. Between Internal Market and Law's Discourse. A Reply to article 'Internal Market Rationality, Private Law and the Direction of the Union. Rescuscitating the Market as Object of the Political'

On the basis of the deployment of the idiom of co-production of knowledge and governance,the article I am commenting upon critically argues for over coming the reification practicesand for the ‘re-politicisation’ ofthe Europeanprivatelaw field. I note and discuss a dialectical tension between, on the one hand, the explanation based on ‘reification’ as the process ofco-production ofknowledge andgovernance which de-politicises and, on the other hand, the description of institutional settings themselves as instigating and producing reification—between theory and practice, ideology and discourse.
